Dr. Neal Nirenberg practices comprehensive ophthalmology at East Valley
Ophthalmology, seeing patients of all ages, with every eye and eyelid problem,
plus facial skin rejuvenation. Dr. Nirenberg chose East Valley Ophthalmology
because of a shared comittment to the highest quality medical care and obtaining
the best possible results for their patients.
Dr. Nirenberg graduated the University of Florida with a BS degree, Phi Beta
Kappa after only three years of study. He then went on to the University
of Miami School of Medicine where he received his Doctor of Medicine. He
did his Internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston Texas followed by an
Ophthalmology Residency at the Hermann Eye Center, also in Houston Texas.
He entered private practice, becoming a Fellow of the American
College of Surgeons and receiving his certification from the American Board
of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Nirenberg provides a wide scope of practice and performs a variety
of operative procedures. These range from state-of-the-art cataract surgery,
to retinal laser procedures, to oculoplastic procedures, including the use
of the CO2 laser. In his more than twenty years in practice, Dr. Nirenberg
has had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the most prominent
leaders in the fields of Oculoplastics and Dermatology. His experience and
expertise is well known in areas of blepharoplasty (eyelid plastic surgery),
Botox, Obagi Blue Peel, and dermal fillers, including Juvederm,
which rejuvenate and enhance one's appearance.
He has published articles ranging from esotropia, "crossed eyes", to
IOL implantation, surgical wound construction, and other aspects
of cataract surgery.
Outside of Ophthalmology, Dr. Nirenberg has many interests, including traveling
and has visited many foreign countries. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
He has many athletic interests including jogging, skiing, and the martial
arts, with two black belts in Tae Kwan Do. He is a certified SCUBA diver,
having dived from the Bahamas to Mexico to Hawaii and Fiji. Much of his free
time is spent with his wife raising their three children.
